I sold my first novel, WAITING FOR THE WOLF MOON, to Silhouette Books in 1992, and then wrote three more for them--true books of my heart, with enough paranormal and spookiness to satisfy my eclectic tastes. When my line, the "Shadows" line, closed in '96, I foolishly stopped writing for Silhouette. But perhaps the world really is cyclical. Not only is Silhouette re-releasing my "Circle" series as Dreamscapes--they've bought three more projects!
Meet the four witch-heroines of these ground-breaking romance novels....
Waiting for the Wolf Moon (April 2002) tells about SYLVIE, a book-trained witch who has begun to doubt her abilities--until a suspected werewolf reawakens her heart.
Burning Times (June 2002) is BRIGIT'S story. Her ancient family tradition of witchcraft demands secrecy... even from her beloved husband. But he hasn't been himself lately.
In Beneath the Surface (August 2002), MARY, a new Wiccan and practicing psychic, must learn to look not just into her future but her watery past--and to the love she lost there.
And in Forest of the Night (October 2002), CYPRESS is an eclectic earth-witch who mixes many traditions, but all of them good--and who meets a man who may be more than half bad.
...Four loves to last eternally.

On top of all that, Silhouette was kind enough to let me use my Evelyn Vaughn pseudonym for two anthology stories from Berkley Books (edited under my real name):

Waiting for the Wolf Moon (The Circle) The Circle: Four friends, four magical gifts, four loves to last eternally
Nobody had to tell Sylvie Peabody that some things were beyond human
understanding. After all, she was a witch--a white witch of uncommon power. But
even she was powerless to explain the nightmare that gripped the little town of
Stagwater whenever the full moon approached. Was it really possible that a
werewolf was stalking the Louisiana night?
"Beware the full moon. Even a witch can run into trouble when a werewolf is
stalking the Louisiana night. Add to this a House of Horror with its mysterious
owner and you have the makings of a really good book. The Circle: Four friends,
four magical gifts, and four loves. Read this for tingly horror and a love story
that is as real as it gets. Try it, I think you will like it! " |

Burning Times (The Circle) The Circle: Four friends, four magical gifts, four loves to last eternally "The witch must be destroyed." Somewhere, somehow, a door opened and evil entered. It longed for human form
and dreamed of destroying Its eternal enemy. And It had just found Brie and
Steven Peabody. "This book is a pretty short read at 251 pages. I really liked this story.
It was dark and did a great job describing the pure evil that was chasing Steven
and Brie. Brie is a very strong woman. She is a witch and loves her craft, but
is willing to sacrifice everything for her husband. When evil comes at her, she
does not go down without a fight. Steven is a little less likable. He is very
hard headed and intolerant of Brie's belief in "hocus pocus." You will probably
hate him for the first 220 pages, but hold on tight for the nail-biter ending of
this book! |

Beneath the Surface
(The Circle) It hungered. Deep in a Louisiana bayou lurked the heart of darkness-- and Guy Poiters' penance. A tragedy in his youth had torn him away from sweetheart Mary Deveraux and consumed his life with guilt. Now only Mary's white magic and a single gold coin offered clues to his salivation. It waited. Mary hadn't forgotten the Cajun boy who'd been her best friend. And now, the grown-up Guy was inspiring desires she knew he shared. But to settle the past, they would need to confront the very root of evil before... It struck.

Forest of the Night
(The Circle) Despite their
differences, Cypress Bernard and Drake Benedict needed each other. Though she
found the legendary warlock impossibly arrogant-- and darkly
irresistible--Cypress had to rely on his powers to save her beloved hometown.
And though Drake found the earthy beauty a bit naive, he soon learned the extent
of the danger they were both in . . . Because evil in Stagwater was laying claim
to his soul, even as Cypress's magic charm warmed his icy heart, demanding that
he believe in her, in light...in their love. "You don't find this type of book with Harlequin often, so this was a
delightful surprise. There is magic and the passion between Cypress and Drake was
hot. This is one of my favorite books this year."

Buried Secrets "If you are a
fan of paranormal investigative romances you will love Buried Secrets by Evelyn
Vaughn. The characters are witty, funny and each always has to have the last
word but Vaughn delivers a delightful banter that brings the couple closer
instead of arguments. Her research shows in this book and the investigation that
leads to the closure of this paranormal case is wonderful and well thought out
with great twists and turns. I highly recommend Buried Secrets – but if you have
a fear of snakes – be forewarned." |

One of the most powerful men in Washington, D.C., dashing Matt Tynan had a direct line to the president and never lacked for beautiful escorts to diplomatic dinners and party fund-raisers. But his life took a perilous turn when his investigation into buried CIA Project Code Proteus turned up explosive information pointing to an inside cover-up. He'd already embroiled his secretary, Carey Benton, and it was up to him to keep her safe. But getting close to the Kansas-born beauty wreaked havoc on his tightly controlled emotions. Keeping cool had always been his game, but the rules had suddenly, dangerously changed for good…. "I liked the characters, including several friends, relatives and
significant others that you'll meet once you "get your own" copy of The Player.
Some made me laugh; others reminded me of my friends and family members. |
